Handmade (2010)
Released in 2010 on EMI’s Blue Note label, Handmade was largely written by Hindi Zahra herself – hence the title. Built around acoustic guitar, soft percussion and her low, jazz-tinged voice, it moves between English, French and Tamazight and draws on folk, blues, soul and Amazigh music. In February 2011 it won the Victoires de la Musique award for best world music album, and a deluxe edition with previously unreleased songs followed later that year.
Chart peaks: France 17, Belgium (Flanders) 22, Belgium (Wallonia) 35, Sweden 29, Switzerland 58.
